We now have an exciting opportunity for a Data Engineer to join our Strategic Research team within the Property function based in Melbourne.

About the opportunity

Reporting into the Senior Manager, The Data Engineer is accountable for developing and maintaining the proprietary data analytics engine and platform, the Market Intelligence Data & Analytics System (MIDAS), including:

 

·       Cloud data engineering on Microsoft Azure (or AWS / GCP as required), developing and maintaining ETL / ELT pipelines, schedules, and triggers;

·       Designing solutions to ingest and curate data with Databricks notebooks and/or Azure Data Factory pipelines, utilising agreed data architecture and master data management principles;

·       Continuously improving environment standards and hygiene, including version control or DevOps practises; and

·       Assisting with dashboard development and maintenance in Tableau (Desktop and Cloud).

This exciting role seeks to promote objectivity in investment decision-making by providing data-driven insights to business users with varying levels of data and analytical expertise.

About you

With experience in a cloud data engineering role, this position will give you the opportunity to showcase your experience in designing, implementing, and automating data pipeline/ETL solutions in a cloud environment (Azure). Ideally you will have Azure Data Engineer Associate (DP-203) or Databricks Data Engineer Associate certification and proficiency in Python, SQL/T-SQL, Pyspark and Tableau.

·       Demonstrated experience working with Python, SQL and pipeline orchestration (such as Azure Data Factory) in a cloud environment is required. Prior experience with Databricks notebooks, Pyspark, Spark SQL, and Delta Lake / Delta Live Tables is preferred.

·       Strong coding, problem solving, troubleshooting and analysis skills as well as technical knowledge of data processing and management are required.

·       Demonstrated experience working with time series data is required. Experience in real estate, finance, economics is preferred.

·       Demonstrated knowledge of data modelling methods, master and reference data design, and controls are preferred.

·       Strong interpersonal skills are preferred, with the ability to collaborate effectively with people within the team and across the business to achieve objectives.
