We are currently supporting our client - a large APAC retail / consumer industries organisation based in the South East, an ASX 200 company, who is going through a huge amount of growth and transformation as they set themselves up for their future state. The result of this transformation is an exciting Head of Health, Safety & Wellbeing opportunity.
They have more than 5000 employees and are growing, customer centric in everything that they do and this role will be focussed on the development and implementation of the organisation’s health, safety and wellbeing strategy, and the provision of expert advice, that ensures the organisation complies with all legal obligations and delivers a high level of safety, injury management and team member wellbeing outcomes.
About the Role
This role will be accountable for leading a team of 5 direct reports ensuring the development and delivery of the health, safety and wellbeing strategy that is aligned to, and supports the overall business strategy for the organisation.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
· Providing subject matter expertise, leadership, oversight, and governance that drives accuracy, quality, and compliance regarding all HSW requirements and initiatives.
· Balancing HSW requirements and reporting with proactive initiatives and programs to improve the health and wellbeing of all team members.
· Building and maintaining positive relationships with key stakeholders to drive change and continual improvement in behaviours, risk controls and systems.
· Developing the HSW management strategy, policies and procedures, and relevant initiatives and programs to implement and monitor
· Providing advice and relevant resources on HSW and injury management matters, policies and procedures, and coach managers to build HSW capabilities and minimise work related hazards, incidents and accidents.
· Managing participation in regular audits and risk assessment activities to ensure effective risk controls
· Managing key relationships and providers, including Employee Assistance, Insurers and Worker’s Compensation
· Influencing, coaching, and mentoring senior business leaders in the development of health, safety & wellbeing initiatives and management of safety related issues
About you
Ideally you will have a tertiary qualification in OH&S or similar, with a cert IV in training and assessment beneficial. You will have proven experience in health and safety leadership roles, managing cross functional teams across multiple jurisdictions and geographies.
You will have excellent consultation and negotiation skills, able to effectively manage complex issues to conflicting deadlines. You have exceptional communication skills, excellent attention to detail, able to build relationships across the business with a problem solving yet strategic approach.
You have a hand-on style, able to influence and negotiate across all levels internally and externally to get things done, very comfortable in an ambiguous and fast paced environment.
